Sometimes a musician, sometimes a poet, and often both at once, Julie Aubé is a multidisciplinary artist from Memramcook, New Brunswick. Well established in the French-Canadian musical landscape, she is best known for her work as a member of the group Les Hay Babies.
In 2017, she embarked on her solo path as a singer-songwriter, revealing her captivating vintage folk-rock-country style with the full-length album Joie de vivre, which won the “Solo Recording of the Year” award at the Music NB Awards. She followed up in 2022 with Contentement, a work written in the spirit of gratitude, echoing her previous recording with her signature 70’s flair. The album earned the “Recording of the Year” award at the Music NB Awards and garnered nominations at both ADISQ and the East Coast Music Awards. More recently, Julie made her debut in the Anglo-folk scene with Boiling Over, a 5 track country EP.
With her spirited voice and lyrics infused with her acadian french and heritage, Julie Aubé sings from the gut and she sings powerfully. Like many Maritimers, this New-Brunswick artist is sincere with a good sense of humor and will sing about what she knows which is; gratitude, growing roots and love, of course!
